Panama Summit 2016 Report

Panama Summit: June 1-5.
Our annual summit brought representatives from each member except Congo and Angola. Once again their delegates were defeated because of visa problems.  The Panama Church – Iglesia Evangelica Unida – hosted us very well. It was our first time in Panama, and it was memorable! Thank you Ricardo, Americo, Alan, Obdulio, Alina, and many more.

“Vitality” Workshops
Summit is a time for equipping National Church leaders. Emerson Cardoso (Brasil), Heinrich Klassen (BTG – Germany), and Vic Wiens (MB Mission) presented workshops on Spiritual, Theological and Organizational Vitality, respectively. God is at work in these areas in wonderful ways (yes, also organizationally!). It was spiritually uplifting to receive input from these qualified and inspired leaders.

Associate Director for Latin America Appointed:
Rudi Plett, currently the delegate from Paraguay German Conference and Chair of ICOMB, will become half time Associate Director under David Wiebe. His assignment is to lead and coach the Latin America MB National Churches to strengthen and connect for their greater health and capacity for mission. His other half time role is “Regional Team Leader” for MB Mission, serving the missionaries in Latin America. We look forward to what God will do, since God has been working already in special ways to bring Rudi (and his wife Ruth) to this point.
